Matthew,
Welcome to the List! Not too many around
here consider survivalists "extremists"!
There are a lot of MVs that you would
probably enjoy. I have a "plain old Willys
Jeep" that I dearly love and wouldn't part
with for ANYTHING! It's great to drive
around town (in fact it's my daily driver!),
and it's great for 4 wheeling and camping.
Another wonderful go anywhere vehicle
is the 3/4 ton Dodge M37. It isn't very good
on gas but is just about the most durable,
beat it to death and it still keeps going,
vehicle ever built. It is perfect for the back
woods and if you get one equipped with a
pto winch on front it will even climb trees!
(Well, almost!) Then there is the M43
ambulance. It is a variant of the M37, but
is a few inches longer and is totally enclosed.
I like using mine for camping in the winter
because it has a gasoline heater in the back
and you can use the benches as cots! Plus,
being enclosed, it keeps all your gear safe and
dry!
All these vehicles are for sale from time to time
on the List, just keep watching. Also check your
local newspaper - that's how I found mine.

Sorry this is so long!!
