The gravity feed cups tend to have lower CFM (cubic feet per minute) and PSI
(pounds per square inch) requirements, since gravity is doing at least some of
the work of introducing the paint into the gun. Suction guns rely entirely on
the venturi effect to raise the paint into the nozzle and therefore tend to
need more air volume and pressure than the gravity feed types.

At least that's my understanding...

Hope this isn't too far off the track, but regarding HVLP paint guns: What
is the advantage/disadvantage of a gravity feed cup vs the conventional
cup? Is one or the other better for vehicle painting?
