The engine serial number pad is located on the top of the front right corner
of the engine block. If this pad is blank it means that this was a replacement
engine block and was never issued to any particular GPW. If the engine is
still assembled then the serial number pad will be hidden by the oil filter
assembly. Unless you are a person possesed of keen eyesight, considerable
dexterity, and a bright flashlight you will need to remove this assembly in
order to clearly view the serial number.
