[MV] GPW Transmission Troubles

This past weekend, I took part in the Pacific Fury reenactment in
Galvestion. Everything went fine until Saturday evening. I drove my
GPW to the Lone Star Museum of Flight for a party and everything
appeared fine. When I left, when I shifted into second gear, I would
hear a muffled clinking/clunking sound. In either first or third gear I
don't hear it. The sound also only can be heard when under load. If I
let off or even slightly ease of the gas, the noise subsides, only to
return when I press on the gas again.

I am unsure of what might have happened to make this occur, but I tend
to think I must have a chipped tooth on second gear. Before I go
tearing into my transmission (again), I wanted to solicite the
collective knowledge of the list. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
I went through this transmission just last winter and all the gears
looked good.

Thanks,

Jim Rice
