Hi Ginna,
(I'm almost off topic but I'm sure Arthur wont mind in this instance.)

David is right, the Air Transport Auxiliary was largely girls (I choose
that word specifically) and they flew EVERYTHING with the aid of a thin
manual, that is in our libraries, which just gave a line drawing of the
cockpit layout and a single page on the typical flying characteristics of=

the types.

The aircraft were NEVER armed, rarely had a radio (too scarce for ferry
duty), often no compass and invariably had the throttles pinned for "ferr=
y
power".

Navigation was by ground recognition and railway lines, they flew in a
combat zone and more than a few were bounced by raiders with an inevitabl=
e
outcome having neither the means to offer defence or full engine grunt to=

high-tail it.

Even Queeny got grubby driving and servicing an army ambulance. . . . . .=

>>Besides Ginna, why should =

all of us guys have all the fun? Find a military vehicle that you like =

and have at it. This page and the MVPA is here to help you.<<

YES. You have at it Ginna.

While I'm at it can I mention the ladies who we never see on the list but=

doubtless toil away in an essential support role. I have one here who
makes no moment of the continuous laundry work, keeps up a steady supply =
of
tea and food for the engineers and wholly ignores the substantial leak
generated in our meagre bank account that I have plumbed directly into th=
e
Stalwart. . . . . . . .
