Fred,

Some information on the vehicle I believe you are describing follows:

LUCHS (LYNX) SPAHPANZER 2
WHEELED ARMORED
RECONNAISSANCE VEHICLE

Origin: West Germany
Crew: 4
Engine: Daimler-Benz 10-cylinder multi-fuel engine, 390hp, water-cooled
Speed: 55.9mph
Range: 496.89mi
Armament: 20mm cannon; 7.62mm machine gun
Weight: 19.5 tons
Dimensions: Length: 25ft, 4in
Height: 9ft, 6in
Width: 9ft, 9in
History:

The Luchs was produced by Rheinstahl between 1975 and 1978, to a
Mercedes-Benz design, as a replacement for the Bundeswehr's aging M41s
and Hotchkiss SPz 11-2 reconnaissance vehicles. The vehicle is highly
mobile, having 8-wheel steering when required off-road (4-wheel steering
being employed normally). It is also fully amphibious, two propellers
giving a water speed of 5.6mph.

This data obtained from "A Concise Guide to Modern Fighting Vehicles" of
Longmeadow Press.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Sincerely,

Curtis Weddle
