Not if the clutch was Oil soaked. Since there is more mechanical advantage in
gears 1 & 2 , the clutch slipping is not enough for you to "feel" it. IN 4
th gear, the final drive is a lot closer to 1:1 and you feel the engine not "
making up" with the road speed via the clutch slippage.

Look under the car and see if some 90 wt oil is trying to drip out of the
bellhousing.
