Hi,
Last I knew the rules said you had to weld the barrel to the trunnion and
install a right side plate made of ALUMINUM (they were very specific) that is
twice the thickness of the original. That means you either cut down the
internal parts to fit (rendering them useless) or discard them. The BATF
Technical Section in Washington D.C. is very helpful on the finer points of
the rules (and very nice about it too) which include a lot of other words but
those are the two basics. Unless you are a machinist that can fabricate the
plate and parkerize it to match the original parts I'd suggest you buy one of
the assembled models. The guy in California has a good rep and we used a guy
in Oklahoma that did a beautiful job. The last one I saw from SARCO was nice
too.
