A motorpool restoration means the vehicle's restored appearance would
be very near how it appeared while in the military and used on a regular
basis. More specifically, it is not 100% original factory finished. This
would likely mean a specific item would be somewhat different than the
way it came from the factory.

While engine blocks from the factory might have been grey, following a
depot level rebuild, they might have been painted OD. This is a common
difference. Additionally, in the field, vehicles will many times have MWO
(modification work orders) performed. These modification would be
inappropriate for a factory class restoration.

In the WWII jeep community, this is a real sticky point. Since both Willys
and Ford built the WWII jeeps, almost all parts are necessarily
interchangeable. Coming for the factory, all would be of one
manufacture. In the motorpool, the parts would be mixed. I.e. a Willys
MB would have Ford GPW parts and vice versa.

The final and biggest difference, IMHO, is the way the owners use their
jeeps. A factory class restoration is usually not driven extensively,
especially in off-road or rough terrain conditions for fear of giving it a
non-new appearance. Motor pool restorations however can be used
more. Giving it a used appearance is okay. You don't want it to look 50
years old and unrestored, rather, it should look the way it look when still
in the active inventory.
