[MV] Jeep engine numbers

I think I know the answer to this one, but I will ask it anyway.

I have a 4 cylinder flat-head 4 block--basic jeep block. It has these
markings on it:

stamped at the top: 550/5 (maybe 55015)and 98238

cast on the lower side: 80 807895 15

OK--who made it? What was it supposed to go in?

The first person who can ID it wins a free copy of Jane's _All the
World's E-Tools._

This is one of two blocks that came with my 42 GPW BTW. Tim
