Dear Daryl,

I've been a radio operator at the German Bundeswehr in 1975/76. Our vehicle
was the UNIMOG 404 with radio box.

It is really a high mobility vehicle. Most of them had petrol engines,
2.2 litres, 80 DIN horsepowers. The vehicle is 5 metres long and 2.1 metres
wide. The permissable total weight is around 4.5 metric tons. Top speed
is 60 mph (very noisy).

The UNIMOG is no off road vehicle for YUPPIES who want to travel on the
main street with it. It is loud, slow and offers no comfort. But it offers
very good off road capabilities. There are very few off road vehicles in
the one ton payload class which can compete with the UNIMOG.

If you are interested I can send you more data and pictures off list.

Regards
Andreas
