Replica gunlaws will vary greatly from state to state. In the Peoples Republic
of California
they passed some very broad laws after a spate of freeway incidents.

For instance, it is illegal to draw or exhibit an immitation or replica gun in
a rude or threatening manner, or in a manner that would cause others
apprehension of being shot.

It is also theoretically illegal to manufacture, distribute, or sell a replica
or immitation firearm, unless it is a model of an antique or commemorative
gun. (with some exceptions)

I know of NO cases where these sections have been applied to MV displays or re
enactors, but the possibitlity exists that an arrest and seizure could be made
for down the highway with a displayed gun.

My suggestion, at least in CA would be to either drive with the gun covered,
or stow it ubtil you get to your display site.
