I wanted to tell the group about my resent experience with a vendor. =
First a little history of the project. I have been rebuilding an M151A2 =
as a USAF security police jeep/Jeep (take your pick). Almost finished, =
I wanted a radio set to polish it off. Not having a lot of money =
remaining for the project I contacted Steve Haney, an advertiser in =
Supply Line. Mr. Haney was very accommodating to my request and my =
budget and was able to put together a complete package with an RT-524 or =
for the picky, a AN/VRC-46 radio set. Steve included the radio, mounts, =
antenna, matching unit, all hardware and some nice documentation. Even =
the mike and headset. All for a very fair price. The radio, per my =
request did not work. I live very close to McConnell AFB and do not =
have a license to operate, nor do I think to have the willpower to avoid =
playing with the thing if it did work. The radio I got was demilled by =
a torch cut in the top and bottom of the aluminum case. These holes =
were fixed in less than an hour each and painted up when finished so =
well as to be invisible. The radio face had all the knobs and do-dads =
in place. All in all a real sweet deal. Haney will answer any and all =
questions and not mind taking the time to do so, a really nice guy. =
Perhaps this info will help somebody else as well.

Also thanks to all the people who answered my call for help on the =
radio, especially David Davidson who provided tech manuals in the nick =
of time and prevented me from "guessing" wrong and drilling holes in the =
wrong place. Thanks to the list for sharing all that stored up =
knowledge! I really enjoy reading all the varied topics. Pictures of =
the project to date will be posted as soon as the weather clears and I =
can take them.
