Hi Andreas, like in Germany a DUKW is the biggest thing you can drive
in the UK without a special licence. We are allowed to use them
unloaded and pay no road tax at all, just insurance 8-) There was a
lot of debate at the time Goat tyres appeared as to whether they were
really suitable for a DUKW application, but they were so cheap nearly
everybody bought them. Some people used original 10 plys on the front
axle and Goat tyres on the rear, some people used Goat tyres all round
and carried two spare wheels just in case. I've not heard of anyone
having any trouble using them, I haven't but then my DUKW (Dusty
#14962) doesn't go very far on them. No idea what the rating would be
- if I remember I'll have a look to see what's marked on them the next
time I'm in the garage. Anyone else on the list have any problems with
Gama Goat tyres ? Gordon 8-) Scotland - cold but clear today.
