To the list

On the basis of a report posted on the list this week I just
made a 200+ mile trip to look at a jeep. The post stated that this
person had a 44 MB for-sale.
What was actually there was anything but that. I would like
to request that anyone who feels like posting a for-sale on list do as a
reporter would. Verify that the statement is true first, it could save
someone a lot of time effort.
On to other things!!

This is "actually" what the man has. The following is a list
of what's there and condition of the items.

2 complete jeeps with motors ( one has a ford v-8 the other
a GMC v-6)
both are there but have been badly abused in the conversion.
The jeeps
are made up of an assortment of parts.

The one Jeep frame that he say is an MB is actually a CJ2
frame This is
best of the lot and the one that he refers to as restored?
This frame does have a motor but no head or
accessories such as starter, generator, carb, manifolds
etc, etc.. The body for this jeep which he said had been sand
blasted ( it had not) sets outside missing most of its
parts. The body is an
M-38 tub.

Now out in the woods and I mean out in the woods sets the
rest of his
collection, which consist of the following. One frame (CJ 2
) half buried in
the mud. 3 more jeeps in very bad condition most of which
consist of
CJ 2's and M-38 frames. Of on one side also sets a very poor
condition 47? jeep wagon.

Now for the good stuff! The man that he bought most this off
of was going to make up several jeeps to be used in parades an such so
he purchased anything that he could that would make a jeep look military
( or so the story goes). All of the bodies for this collection of jeeps
are M-38's with the exception of one the jeeps in the barn which is a
CJ2. There are at least five M-38 tubs several of which are in fair
condition at this time as they all set outside they will most likely not
last much longer though.
As for any other M-38 parts there are very few if any. I
didn't see any windshields, one or two hoods in poor condition, there
were some grills that had some of the accessories on them. I didn't see
anything in the way of engines, transmission, or gauges etc. Now in an
old van parked next to one of the jeeps in the woods there was a hand
full of parts that may have been jeep parts but they are all mixed up
with other parts. Very hard to tell what was actually there. There was
not a military rim on any of the jeeps or in the yard.
One last comment, if anyone is interested you will have to
wait till the spring thaw so you can get them out of the woods or the
barn, there is much mud about, well not as much as there use to be I
brought about 10 lbs of it home with me.
Again the location is in Defiance Oh. west on US 24. The
gentleman is very friendly an very willing to show you his collection of
jeeps. As for the price that was quoted I think that he would come down
considerably. If interested his no. is (419) 782-9427. Don't ask him to
ship things out I don't think that he is pre paired to do anything like
that.

Again in closing I would like to ask that if you post
something like this to the list please make sure the facts are correct
first.

Thanks for your time. Good luck and Good
hunting!!!
