Hi List,

I am now to the point of needing the hardware for my WC51 bed. Side
Rail's - Troop Seats, Etc. Right now we have just the bare bones bed
with no hindges, canvas seats or even the tool box covers. I realize
some of these things are pretty hard, if not impossible to get, so any
help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

I understand Vintage P W has tool box covers for around $150 ea. Is that
a fair price or can they be found for less $? Also my existing tailgate
has a fair amount of welding, wrinkles, dents an so on and I would like
to replace it. Did the original tailgates have DODGE stamped on them or
were they plain?

Along the inside of the bed, it looks as if their were catches to hold
the seats down. (three on ea. side, four hole pattern.) Sure could use
those as well if they were original.

As to the State Dept. and Customs blurb about armor the other day I can
see where they might be getting a little nervous even though in most
case's it's unwarrented. If I remember right, the idea is to perserve as
many MV's as possible so that future generations can enjoy them also.
MV's have a tendency to lose their appeal when made into beer cans and
auto's.

Thanks to all of you who have fought for freedom in all countries of the
world, alive, Mia and deceased. Those of us who were either to young, to
old or to chicken to fight owe you a tremendous debt. of gratitude.

Oop's got a little of the subject. Sorry!

Smitty
