These blocks are supposed to be very difficult to get, I'd certainly
like a spare too.

Dodge Military Vehicles '40 - '45 Collection No 1 gives airborne totals
as 280 with winch '44 and 3057 without winch '44 - '45. Normally on a
question of this sort I'd look to Norway where GMCs and Dodges were
received in quantity from the US in the immediate post WW2 period, but
I've already noticed that the Norwegian Dodges, with the exception of
knockdown ambulances, are mostly very early 3/4 tons. Seems the US
shipped all the early production still in stock as aid, and sensibly
hung on to the later standardized stuff. If they didn't really run
with the idea it is quite possible none of them left the US, and were
later caught up in the extensive rebuild programme for the Korean war,
where they would have been rebuilt as standard units. Anyone know of
any survivors. ? Incidentally there were / are a good number of air
portable GMCs in the Norwegian inventory, especially tippers. Gordon
