[MV] MB/GPW starter motor - HELP!

Help!

The starter motor on my '43 jeep has ceased to function. At the drive-end,
in front of the Bendix drive pinion (counter-weighted gear), there's a
washer, followed by a hairspring, followed by a 'circular nut' right at the
end. Normally the hairspring is confined between the washer and the
circular nut, but my hairspring decided it didn't like its confinement and
tangled itself with the washer, rendering it useless. I left it with the
most highly recommended electro-maintenance company in Dublin, Ireland, who
reckon that a replacement hairspring is all that's needed - but they can't
source a correct one.

My usual English parts source can only supply an entire NOS Bendix Assembly
for about $100
- a lot to pay for a little spring.

So can anyone help me find a source for this hairspring?
Shipping delay time from the US or anywhere else would be no problem.
(A new 'circular nut would be great too, since it's showing its age and
will probably be the next problem with the starter.)

Thanks in advance, usual apologies for non-technical jargon.
