I had a similar experience when building CMP trucks a few years back; just about
everything I needed for the mechanicals was available OFF-THE -SHELF from '40s and
'50s Ford and GM truck parts catalogues in any auto parts store.

Saved a lot of money that way too! (and spent a lot... :-)
