Bob,
Sounds like vapor lock. M-37's are notorious for this.Check to be sure
that the heat shield above the fuel pump is in place. I finally wrapped my
fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb with some reflective insulation
(made for mufflers I believe) and the problem went away. Not a pretty
solution but it starts every time now.
