I was having the same problem with my M43. I found that the fuel line from
the fuel pump to the carb had a straight fitting out of the pump which
pointed the fuel line very close to the block causing it to get very hot. I
put in a 90 degree elbow fitting from NAPA to point the line out to the
side, routed the line as far from the block and exhaust manifold as possible
and have not had any more problems! Hope this helps.
