Hi All,
One of the serious problems with Carbon Tetrachloride occurs when
the person EXPOSED to the stuff (including minor contact with the fumes
as has happen with dry cleaned clothes) drinks alcohol with 24 - 48
hours after exposure. There are severe systemic effects as well as
liver damage. If you need to use the stuff be sure that you wear the
appropriate respirator for your own protection, but consider the hazard
to anyone downwind. The discharging of the extinguisher underwater bay
be the safest bet.
I agree with many of the sentiments expressed about over protection
from outside agencies, but in this case it is probably justified. Be
very careful.
