True, very true. I know someone who pleads poverty all the time, and
bought a wrecked GPW for about USD 1000 equivalent. It still looks
like a refugee from a scrapyard, as his restoration isn't that good
(fortunately he isn't on-line) and by now he has spent the equivalent
of USD 3000 on it. There must be decent jeeps available in the US for
USD 1000 that are worth having, but watch out for the junk. The only
exception I can think of is where a vehicle is so rare it just has to
be bought, regardless of condition. I bought a GPA hulk this way and
it hoovered up USD 6000 or so before I stopped throwing money at it.
It will eventually make a GPA though, and I probably would get most of
