After all the helpful info (thanks all) on hand-cranking (and
notwithstanding the 'broken bones' stories) I decided to try cranking the
jeep with the ignition off, to get the feel of the engine.
But there's something missing... At the point where the starter handle
meets the engine, there's a round 'slot' to accept the 'twist', but there's
nothing for the 'twist' to grab onto. There's a hole visible as if a bar
can be fitted, but for the moment, there's no danger of me breaking any
bones.
Is there a part I can get to solve the problem? Or is it a permanent
alteration to save me from myself?
