Hi,

Andreas is quite right in his description, however you will find the Wilson
pre-selector in the Ferret, Saracen and Saladin a little different in that
there is a "clutch" pedal in the expected place which isn't in fact a clutch
at all but the gear change pedal; people who have mistakenly used it as such
rapidly burn out the epicyclic gearbox brake bands.

These vehicles have a fluid flywheel so you can think of them as a "1/2"
automatic and will therefore start and stop using only the brake and
accelerator.
