Also check if the valves are stuck:

I bought a Dodge T214 engine that was destined for a depot rebuilt. It
had been
taken out of the truck, and stored in a crate for an unknown great
number of years.
After draining about 2 gallons of water from the crankcase, I did not
give the
engine much hope, but I decided to disassemble to see if there were any
usable parts
at all.

Of course, the engine did not turn over, and I did not try to force it.
After removing
the head and oil pan, I discovered it was not so bad after all. Most of
the interior parts
were protected by a thin film of grease and oil engine oil. After
removing the
crankshaft I found I was able to remove the pistons fairly easy. The
piston rings
were covered and stuck with a thick smudge of what seemed like tar, and
had not rusted
to the cylinder. That was probably also why the engine didn't run so
great when they
took it out of the truck. But the valves were absolutely stuck! The
exhaust valves
were somewhat protected by soot, but the clean intake valves would not
budge. It
took a great deal of force to remove them.

In the end, I found that the crankshaft and cylinders were still
Standard size, and with
new bearings, piston rings, valves, valve guides and gaskets, this
engine will
hopefully live to see another day.
