Fellow Wrench-benders and lovers of all things Military
I have flathead 230 questions - You got flathead 230 answers???
1 what are the different springs available for the oilpressure relief
system?
2 do they make much of a difference?
3 I have been told a high volume civilian Dodge flathead oilpump can be
put in a
military Dodge by changing the pump gear, I haven't asked VPW yet, but
if it
was that easy, you would think it would be commonly done. Opinions??
Seems to me the guy was absolutely right and the sump would be deep
enough as is, since this is a low rev engine.
4 I am still looking for ideas for engine stand mounts for military
flatheads, instead
of the usual brackets that require you to remove the damn flywheel.
Opinions??
5 Anyone put a better pickup in the pan instead of the stock pickup which
has
such small intake slots that you are asking for trouble.
6 Less power out of this thing than I am accustomed to in an M-37.
Compression is good and even, timing is 5btdc, points and plugs look
good.
Carb was rebuilt by me and works great, so was the fuel pump. Can't
seem to
hold speed on any kind of incline at any speed. Any wise words from
you
wise guys........
......and as always, we thank you for your support. mike in VA
