[MV] Got trouble with registration

I have run afoul of the department of motor vehicles and need some help =
from the list please. Does anybody out there know what the numbers on =
the frame mean on an M151A2. I finally got the paint off and can read =
it. Prior to going back for another try, I wanted to try to sort out =
the meaning of the numbers and see if there was any way to trace the =
history of this vehicle.

I was told by the State Trooper on the phone that without a title, the =
DMV can not help me. No title was included in the original sale. DMV =
did not seem to be too terribly picky where the title came from, just go =
get it. I am considering International Title. Which brings me back to =
numbers. I got numbers (sorta) on the frame, engine, and a brand new =
data plate (thanks Rapco), none match each other. When I asked what =
numbers the resident official wanted he said "All of them." But when I =
asked him which of those numbers should be on the title, he did not have =
an answer. Needless to say, I would like to get this right on the first =
try. The State Trooper also talked about running the numbers through "a =
Chicago office", anybody got a clue what that is about?

At any rate, would appreciate some info. I know I have been hitting the =
list a lot lately with problems and hope to someday be able to make a =
worthwhile contribution back. I do thank all of you for your support, =
it makes rebuilding an MV a lot easier. My friend asked me to thank all =
those who responded about the M3! He has decided to look at something =
with wheels, but unusual, like a Unimog or something.
