Depends on the serial number and date of delivery for your particular GPW.
Almost all GPWs had GPW motors that would have had the same serial number as
the data tag and frame of your jeep. Only the very, very earliest GPWs seem to
have had Willys style motor castings. Some GPWs with serial numbers under 600
appearantly used motors purchased from the same company that Willys bought
from (by some accounts) or were cast by Willys (by other accounts) In any case
the original motor for your jeep whether cast by Ford, Willys, or Wilkinson
Motors, would have had your vehicle's serial number cast into the plate on the
right side of the block. There have been fairly detailed discussions of this
and similar topics in the past, I suggest you check the Mil-veh archives for
some of the info you are probably wondering about.
