Tim and List,

The reason for the new air cleaner was prompted by the need for the
velocity governor added to slow down those lead footed GI's. This
governor raised the carburetor about 1 and 1/2 inches and the old style
air filter assembly and hood made contact. BTW, the orginal installation
used a 1/2 inch alumium spacer and two gaskets under the carb. Even with
this installation the clearence between the hood and the air filter
assembly is very close. Hope this helps.
