Mike:
I was in far worse shape when I started the body work on my GPW, the
only origional parts still in the mix is the dash section, to the bottem of
the upper firewall. I have bought or made all the other parts of the body.
Let me tell you at the start that this is a hard row to hoe and if you are
not dead serious about getting it as close to stock as you can, I would
find a buyer for the origional pannels and buy a complete repro body. I am
still working on mine, I hope to have it done in the next few weeks, knock
on wood. Having said that here are the sources for parts I used.
George at Army Jeep parts (AJP), (215)788-6012, supplied the wheel
wells and tool box bottems as an assembly as well as a repro rear floor and
floor riser. Now, I had them shipped out seperatly but he advertises that
they can be sent as an assembled unit. These are American made parts and
they are quite nice, requireing a minimum of fooling to get them together.
unfortuneatly he couldn't supply tool box tops for some reason but I got
them from John Geesink of New Zealand and they are top notch. I understand
that he does very large assemblys, if not whole bodys and if the shipping
were less I would have tried to get everything from him. The other down
side is, no offence to John, he is getting rather old by what I have been
told and is les inclined to do larger projects, but boy what nice work!

This left only the outer skin, R/L quarter pannels and rear pannel, The
only ones I found arround were Philipine, which I am less than happy with.
They have proved to be a lot of work to get anywhere near stock and a big
pain to fit. I actualy looked at several suppliers before I bought them
and I went with the ones that George (AJP) had. Now, I have had people
tell me that there is only one Philipine supplier but you couldn't prove it
by the product as there is a world of difference between the pannels
supplied by AJP and the ones from Archer Bros. in Hayward, CA,
(510)537-9587, who do a large ammount of the importing of philipine parts,
so do some looking before you buy

Well thats what I have on the subject of body work, good luck.
