Hi List,

I want to improve the accuracy of the tilt framework on my C-15A. As I
got it, the frame is made of electrical conduit with several lengths
running fore and aft with holes drilled.

The old 1/32 CMP Chevy 1500 model kit shows the fore and aft stringers
as in two pieces with the rear one mounted a few inches higher than
the front ones.

Was the tubing flattened where it bolted to the bows?

Was there any fittings mounted to the bow uprights? Some photos in
"Canada's Fighting Vehicles" Vol 1, show some distant pictures that
indicate something affixed to the bows near where the upright portion
bends to cross the top. Were these leather or web straps? To hold the
top on if the sides are rolled up?

The canvas that came with the truck was made in the UK by John & Mary
Worthing( do they have email???). It has straps attached to the sides
and rear that allows you to roll them up. I don't see how to do this
without the top blowing off, so maybe there is a way to connect the
top to the bows. Right now, the top is secured by tyeing the ropes
down to the hooks on the sides. The ropes would be rolled up along
with the canvas, so I must be missing something here.

The front bow, in one photo of a C-15, shows fuzzily, a thiner cross
bar. What is the story there?

Also, the tilt was refurbished and I suspect the bow arrangement. The
above mentioned book shows excellent detail if I had an F-15, but even
the MB-C2 Maintenance manual doesn't show the detail,( I guess they
figured it was obvious!)

I know some CMPs had three fittings for the tilt bows so if you needed
open space, you could move all three bows to the front of the bed and
secure the canvas there. does anyone have info on this arrangement on
the steel GS bed for C-15s?

Thanks for your time.

Cheers!
