[MV] M37 Vapor Lock Problem?

I am having problems with my M37. It has never run right since I bought it
last year. It is all stock (flat head six, 24V, etc). The symptoms are that
it runs fine for a while, then starts choking down and dies. If you let it
sit for about 20 minutes, it starts right up and runs fine. My assumption is
that it is vapor locking. To attempt to resolve, the problem, we have tried
the following:

Loosen and/or remove the gas cap.
Put more antifreeze in the radiator.
Put a thermostat in the radiator.
Put on a new stock mechanical fuel pump.
Add a 24V electric fuel pump to assist the mechanical fuel pump.
Install a heat shield on top of the stock mechanical fuel pump.
Reroute the fuel line away from the engine block.
Blow out the fuel lines with compressed air.
Drained the tank to look for rust. Doesn't appear to be any.
Rebuild the carburator.
Adjust the timing.

None of these changes has made any difference and the engine still starts to
sputter and then dies when it gets hot after running for a while (5-10
minutes, or even less on a hot day).

Recently, I remembered that the vacuum lines to the distributor are not
connected and never have been since I got it. Could this be my problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
