The washer trick rarely works, it is at best a way of hiding the symptom
and not of curing the problem.
There is probably a sad but true reason for your low oil pressure and it
is usually not the oil pump which is at fault. Bite the bullet and
look for the real cause.
Chances are it is a failed bearing somewhere.
