Another problem area is that they rot out! Look where the center disk is
riveted to the rim onnf the wheel. You may see places where the disk is lifted
away from the wheel. DANGER! The wheel is rotting under there. This is
especially noticeable by the valve stem opening where the ends are not
connected (due to the opening) and are free to lift.
Check the wheel with the tire off in the area where the rivets are.
I have had wheels get wider where the disk is riveted to the wheel during
inflation (scary!). This distortion of the wheel/ring could cause the ring to
leave...
