This does exist as I have seen parts recovered from this. Several years
back we were attending the MVCC Big Bear swap meet in Waterford, CA . We
were approached by a local resident who was a pig farmer saying he had some
parts for sale and it turned out that he had lived over on one of the big
islands on a ranch. He had an MB that he had brought back from Hawaii with
a homemade body and it still had Hawaii plates on it. He had been been
breaking axles in the mud and sand and finding none to be had had had one
of his friends who had scuba gear dive the wreckage and get him several
axle shafts as spares. I don't recall the guys name or details as to the
location in Hawaii. He said there were all sorts of stuff that they had
shoved off in a lagoon, but the salt and coral had taken their toll on the
sheet metal. I know of two instances here in Idaho where people have dug
up a set of Half track armor and one guy found a ranch wher the guy had
buried the rear sections of command cars and they were dug up.
