In Australia we did similar. Contract fiiles were destroyed after 7 years=
.

However, we had a card system, that tracked every vehicle's service histo=
ry. You know its
serial number. oil change schedule, unit allocation etc. Pretty informati=
ve really. We called it
a G47 card.

May be your US Army Service Corps/Maint Depots have similar. This might =
be a good place
to start.
