This is the insignia of the 8th Service Command HQ. I'll have to look up their
location but I can tell you that the Service Commands are the stateside units
that oversee various local military responsibilities. Most draftees and
inducties reported to Service Command HQ for their physicals and induction
processing. They processed paperwork and organization for their area's
National Guard and Reserve units until thet formed, mobilized and move to
their next station. Each Service Command served a two or three state area. 7th
Service Command HQ was in Omaha (At the still standing, Fort Omaha) and served
Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas to my recollection.
