[MV] Water Buffalo (water trailer) question

I have 2 WW2 250 gallon water buffalo trailers. One a 1941 steel version and
one a 1945 alu version.

There is a picture that probably most of you have seen. It is in many books on
WW2. It is looking forward from the bridge of an LST (I think) at sea over the
deck loaded with equipment. In amongst the equipment are a number of water
buffalo's. All have the fenders removed. The trucks are Army.

The question is: All the water buffalo's look bigger than mine (250 gal) and
all have the frame extending to the rear past the water tank by about a foot.
There appear to be faucets in this in-between space. No where have I seen a
water buffalo like this. The TM9-2800 shows them just like mine and the USA
gassoline tank trailer does not look like this either.

Has anyone ever seen one like this? Ideas?

Steve
