Sir,

If you're concerned with fuel economy on a 6 X 6,
.........well........maybe you should buy another kind of truck. You
see, for example, the M-135 has 6.17 : 1 differentials, it weighs
almost 14,000 pounds and has a 130 Hp engine. It "likes" to run at 45
MPH but with no load and a strong tail wind it can do 55, its going to
take several hundred yards (1/2 mile?) to get up to that though.

Please understand, though, in 1952 that was a fast truck and,
technologically, ahead of its time. It had an automatic transmission,
unheard of in a heavy truck (at the time)!

Mileage? Depends on the driving conditions and load.

Don't forget that the Low Range position for the transmission will
DOUBLE your fuel consumption! Its a 2 : 1 reduction.
