Fellow Listers,
Please, let me just add a few things. They(M135/M211)do like to comfortably
run at 40 to 45 MPH, however, I have had mine up to 60 MPH with about 3000
pounds of steel in the back. I only did this one time to see if it would
actually top out on the speedometer. I had a chase car to conform the speed.
It was also done on a relatively level highway. From about 50 MPH or so, it
seemed like it took about a mile or two to reach 60. This is probably due to
the approach of the limit on the engine r.p.m. which is at 3450 + or - 50
r.p.m. At 45 to 50 MPH gas mileage averages about 7 to 10 MPG empty.
However, I would assume that the M135 would have an easier time getting to
60 MPH and have a little better overall gas mileage. This is due to the
11.00 x 20 single tires Vs. 9.00 x 20 duel tires.
If you check your manual, TM9-8024, page 338 under section 193 Description
and Data. The actually reduction between high and low is approximately
3.82:1.
If you wish, I can scan in the page and do the math for anyone who's
interested.
Thanks for your time
