Thank you, everyone who responded. Your comments have helped me come to 2
conclusions: number 1, I've given up on the idea of using this as a
commuter vehicle. From some of the comments made, I think I'd be better
off on horseback...
Number 2 is, while I'm not going to buy this on this guy's terms, I *am*
going to make a firm counter-offer... $500. If he turns me down (and I'm
sure he will), that's his problem. But.... this is a *small* desert town;
I'm spreadin' the word about what I've learned, both here on on the various
Websites. He may not *get* a better offer!
Thanks again for all the advise. If I do get this, I have a feeling I'm
going to be spending a LOT of time here... <G>
