The only problem with this is that TACOM does not really track and
archive this info. The hood number is assigned when a vehicle enters
service. That hood number along with the serial number is then filed on
a list attached to the contract. HOWEVER, 6 years and 3 months after
final payment is made on the contract they destroy the contracts with
the serial number/ hood number data.

At least this is what was explained to me by the TACOM history office.

I am looking for someone on the list to tell of a way to find a vehicles
hood number vs serial number other then via vehicle data plates.

To add to the list of hood numbers V-100's starting in 1969 start with
13 or 13A and end in the year they were procured. Example: 13000169 1st
vehicle procured in 1969.
I have seen M113's with numbers starting with a 12.
