Hello Christian,

There is a old Nike missile site in San Francisco not far from the Golden
Gate bridge. This doesn't have a lot to do with your GPW but you might find
it interesting. There is a fellow there that restored this site. He has a
lot of the radar equipment that is nearly functional. You can go down into
the silo too. He has about 5 or 6 'dummy' nike missiles there. He redid the
hydraulic lift. Everything is very functionable. He and several volunteers
put many hours in the restoration from the way he talked. The army gave him
a lot of equipment including a 2.5 ton with a crane for lifting the heavy
equipment that he has there. I don't remember any jeeps being there. This
museum is on the north side of the bay across the Golden Gate. After you
cross the bridge, exit at the first exit. I believe you come to a stop sign
and make a left. You will come to a one lane tunnel that you have to wait 5
minutes for all the traffic to come through. The road snakes around back in
the hills. You have to make a left to go up a hill. The museum is there.
Sorry about the vague directions. There is old WWII barracks all around
there. There is also old WWII gun placements there overlooking the entrance
to the bay waiting for the Japanese to invade. Good luck and have fun.
