Hi Brubaker---here is a tip to all the 151 nuts out there. That state out
west---I believe they call it California??!! It was there that the
"emissions" 151 was conceived....the gas tank with about 182 extra lines and
the charcoal tank..?? What a gd mess. Anyway, the carb was designed to keep
the soldiers from adjusting them and making the vehicle run better. Sooooo,
I went to work on one and soon discovered that they were not as smart as
they thought they were. Down on the base is a plug looking affair that can
be popped out. Behind this plug is a screw. By adjusting this screw, you can
make the vehicle run fairly respectably. Also, I used to plug all the vent
lines and use only the supply and return line to the tank. Not having a
accelerator pump, these carbs are pretty ancient in design, simplicity is
more like it. 1SG PANTANO

Subject: [MV] M151A2 Carb

Hello to the group!

I just received my rebuild kit for the carburetor for my M151A2 and also got
my hands on the dash 34 tech manual, with updates. In the manual it talks
about emissions and non-emissions carbs. I checked and I have an emissions
carb on the "jeep". What I am wondering is two fold...

1. The kit I have is 2910-01-157-4176. Is this the right kit for the
rebuild? Looks like more parts than illustrated, including this little
piece of white plastic that I can not identify. Is there a special kit for
the emission type carburetor?

2. Does anybody have any of those "hard lessons learned" type comments that
they would like to share and maybe spare me screwing up the carb?

The last carburetor that I re-built was my sons LTD four barrel and I like
to never got the damn thing to run afterwards. That has been my only
experience to date, so confidence with carburetors is not running very high.

Also, someone contacted me about information regarding my M60 mounted on the
jeep. I was out of town and my youngest son purged all the sent mail logs
and I can not remember if I answered his question, nor do I have the
original note. If I have failed to respond, please let me know so that I
can set it straight.
