After joining the US military in 1956 it soon became reality that I wanted
to learn as much about vehicles as I could. I have had experiences with just
about anything the military has (had) as far as driving and repairing. I
retired in 1990. So I have had quite a span with whatever was there at the
time. I have owned (personally) over 25 different 151 series vehicles. I
have driven more 998's than I can count. HMMWV's that is....remember what
it stands for??? Off road, the 998 family do a fine job. BUT, the 151
family vehicles do better in the mountains on the Jeep trails and in places
where there aren't places (get my drift)?? I do not like the HUMMER.!! It
is too wide, too long and too damn noisy..The 151A2 was possibly the best
off road Military vehicle ever produced by any country..just did not have
enough power for the highway..1SG PANTANO
