Jeep wiring is always good for a chuckle, had to order a new loom myself
today, but you should be able to fix or replace the switch. If the
throwout bearing is past it and other work warrants it I'd have the body
off rather than pull the engine. Jeep bodies mount on 14 bolts, and
things like clutch work, transfer case seals and the rest are much easier
with the body off or the jeep up on it's side.
