There is a supply bulletin called "Vehicular Sets and Authorized
Installations" (SB 11-131) that lists the radios that go in various
vehicles. I have the April 1, 1988 edition. It's about 3/4" thick, and
has no pictures. You might try some of the military manual vendors to
see if they have a copy from an appropriate printing.

I have not yet been able to find older editions of SB 11-131, or
installation manuals for older vehicles and radio sets. Most of my
radios are 1950's sets, so I would probably lean towards getting a
vehicle from that era (M37, M38, M38A1) someday as my first green
truck, but I don't know how my radios were meant to be installed in
those trucks yet. :-(

I just added a section to my web page which lists the major components
of many of the radio sets that were used in the 1950's. It doesn't
describe which vehicles they were used in or how they were installed,
but you may find it useful anyway.
