A buddy of mine who has a surplus business but is WEB Challenged has
asked me to list the following for him: He has a LARGE number of 2
Litter ( NOT LITER ) take off ambulance bodies from Humvee's. The
Gov't is replacing them with the taller 4 Litter bodies. These units
slide into the Humvee and attach to the windshield frame making for a
weather tight crew compartment. A door leads into the cab from the
patient area. A Diesel fuel fired 30,000 btu 24v heater provides heat
to the patient area and is located over passenger side of cab, and an
NBC air filtration system with two mask plug ins for cab crew is
located over driver and a manifold in the patient area has 4 or maybe
6 outlets.
Inside the patient area is a place for two litters and one seated
attendant or the sides can be put up to allow 3 or 4 ambulatory
patients ( read Rug Rats ) per side plus the attendant ( read MOM ) (
no seat belts ).Left front of compartment has shelve(s) for radio
mounting with power and antenna cables and right side had some kind
of shelf/ storage area. Storage area under litter racks , and one
area is accessible from outside rear ( I think on the right side).
Inside are 2 relocatable spotlights for working on patients and
both white and blue lensed ceiling lighting systems which are switch
controlled ( both manual and rear door activated ). Also controls for
heating system. Walls and ceiling are covered with Kevlar cloth for
shrapnel protection and is held in place by rivets. 2 doors in back
and drop down stairs. Some have fuel can carriers and some don't.
Outside is painted in Woodland pattern and has RED Cross on White
background on sides and back on DOT type flip signs, and also on
top. Also on top over cab area is regular mil antenna mount and
exhaust from heater.
Length over all is 122 inches and width OA is 84"and Ht.OA is 53"
Patient area is about 85 inches long and I'll have to measure the
inside ht again. Also have to get wt but when horsing around on
trailer would guess around 800 to 1000 lbs.( mostly aluminum )
I was going to put one on snow mobile trailer to use as camper
until I chopped back of rusting 3/4 ton Suburban off but received an
anonymous letter from neighbor(s) on day he delivered it telling me
to clean up yard or building inspector would be notified of (3)
M38A1's and an M715 lurking in garage and behind fence and lacking
current plates and associated excise taxes for town. ( Hey , they are
asking way too much for the house-- So what if the next door neighbor
has a Suburban in woodland camo and camo netting over the kids swing
set-- they could have bought the house if they didn't want MV's in
the driveway - and the garden tractor does look awesome in woodland-
like moving shrubbery. Besides - Happiness IS a belt fed weapon.)
Any ways there will be 2 at the Merrimack Valley Military Vehicle
Collectors flea market in March and if you just gotta have one
tomorrow and live in NE Mass/ Southern NH area a viewing can be
arranged before then. (Unless I can only figure out where to put it
before he sells it!!! )
Price is $500.00 each and delivery in Maine, New Hampshire and North
East Mass. can be arranged on single units for this price. FOB can be
arranged and Quantity discount is available. Working on pictures if I
can get Barbie camera away from girls...
