[MV] 6V53 information wanted

On a more mil veh note. Any one have experience with the Detroit Diesel
6v53 engine? I am looking at one for a repower project. I can't go into
much detail. But I am interested in knowing about peoples experience
concerning reliabiltiy, noise level and general impressions of the
engine. This is the engine used in the M113, Marine Corps LAV series and
AV Tech Dragoon. Also looking for manual numbers for the engine and the
Allison MT 653 transmission as used in the LAV.
